A Student Confessional

Graduation cap diploma, though many children are aiming for this dream, the road is very tough. The increase in competition between children for top spot has increased dramatically and therefore tests and exams have improved standards which make it very hard for children nowadays to attain the coveted dream graduation cap diploma. Another factor to consider in this situation is the huge amount of pressure put in from parents as the expect things sometimes larger than that possible of their children. This maybe argued as fair of them because of the amount of time and money they are putting into their children’s education. It also doesn’t help that education fees have also increased now due to the increase in quality of education. The recession too, didn’t help matters. All this just puts a tremendous pressure on everyone to drive harder, sometimes, harder than what is possible.

This maybe one of the primary reasons why the student suicide count has increased and why we hear of mass murders on student campuses. This may be the biggest fault of the current education system. But, who is to blame? The teachers are for giving tougher tests? The students are for being more competitive, the parents for extremely high exceptions? It’s a vicious cycle and it needs to be solved together. That is why PTA meetings are so important but these days even parents are shunning away the PTA and hardly attend the meetings using their business as an excuse as both parents are working overtime to pay fees of, yes you guessed it, education. So as everyone tries to move towards graduation cap diploma, little do they realize that they are, in fact, moving away from it!

The problem is that everyone fails to look at the big picture. They are so busy digging and checking that every blade of grass is perfect, but when they look up, they realize that they’ve trampled upon and destroyed the entire lawn. Also we must address this problem from the budding stages because if we don’t clip this situation in the bud it will quickly accelerate from bad to worse. We have to work for a better future of education. We need to think not only about our children, but also about our grandchildren. Its bad right now what will it be in a few years time? Can you imagine it being worse than this? If it does turn worse than this it will become a road to total anarchy! Students are already rebelling against the current system and if it gores worse don’t expect them to sit and just watch. It’s like the Pink Floyd song ‘Another Brick In The Wall’ which symbolizes exactly this situation. Also colleges need to lower their fees in order to apply lesser pressure on parents and help them keep quality family time for their children. After all we are all working towards the big dream… the dream of the graduation cap diploma.
